Stronghold is a game mode in Marvel Realm of Champions that challenges a team of Summoners with waves of Battleworld-generated enemies as they protect their ISO Core.
To switch to this game mode:
- Tap the FIGHT button on the home screen
- Tap the STRONGHOLD option
The window on the left-hand side will display the map for the mission, as well as some other important details.
Tapping the VIEW COMBAT REWARDS button will display the mission rewards.
Tapping the ENTER button will show more mission details before the fight begins. On this mission details screen you may view:
- The threat level of the mission, which denotes the level of difficulty you will face
- Environments and hazards that will affect your team
- The types of enemies you will face
Starting at level 1, your threat level will increase the more victories in this game mode you have acquired. The higher the threat level, the more of a challenge the mission will be.
Your threat level is specific to the current Champion you have selected.
The match begins with you and your allies spawning at the ISO Core. From there, you will be tasked with defending the core from multiple waves of enemies. The total amount of waves, as well as the wave you are currently on, are displayed at the top-right of the screen and will be announced in the play area after each one has completed.
As enemies spawn on the battlefield, their locations will be denoted by the icons at the edges of your screen.
Each wave will bring more and more opponents that can spawn from any direction, so be sure you are watching your ISO Core.
Enemies will be drawn to attack the core, and if it drops to zero health at any point, the mission will fail.
Staying within the core’s aura will heal you and your teammates, but it may become overwhelming to defend it when enemies begin to swarm.
The more health that your core is left with by the end of the mission, the greater your rewards will be.
On the last wave of the mission, your opponent will spawn their Champion in addition to a swarm of lesser enemies.
The Champion is significantly stronger than what you have faced thus far and must be defeated in order to reign victorious. Once the Champion has been downed, the match will end, and any remaining enemies will retreat.
