Portals are instabilities in the fabric of The Battlerealm which will transport you from one node (the entrance) to another (the exit) somewhere else along the quest path. This means that paths that would normally be disconnected or inaccessible can now be accessed using portals!
Here is a breakdown of the three types of portals you will encounter:
Direct Portals
Direct portals have one entrance and one exit. Entering one of these portals will transport Summoners to a single predetermined location elsewhere along the quest path. You will be able to preview where you will exit the portal before you teleport, but you will not be able to specify where you end up.
Multiple Portals
Trickier than direct portals, multiple portals have one entrance but multiple exits for you to choose from. Like direct portals, when you reach the entrance of a multiple portal, you will be able to view all the possible locations you can teleport to. Unlike direct portals, there is more than one exit, and players can choose which one they want to travel to.
Random Portals
Random portals add a touch more chaos to The Battlerealm. With one entrance and multiple exits, moving through these portals will randomly teleport Summoners to one of many possible exits. These portals are currently not planned for any monthly quests, so players do not have to worry about their legends runs or mastery of a quest having a sense of chance attached to them. Random portals are found in procedurally generated content such as dimensional rifts.
How Do Portals Work?
You do not need to be on a portal to see all its exits, only if you want to teleport. If you want to survey a map in advance, simply tap on the entrance to make the pop-up menu appear, and explore it.
Approaching an Entrance
Reaching a portal entrance is relatively straightforward, and works pretty much exactly the same as traveling to any other type of node.
Simply tap on the node itself, and you will be moved to it. Once you are resting on the node, a prompt will appear, allowing you to enter a pop-up menu where you can view and select an exit and initiate teleportation.
Viewing Exits
In the pop-up menu, you will see a few things: at the top, you will see the entrance and its number.
You can tap on the entrance at any point from this menu to snap your camera to it in case you lose track of where you are. Below this, you will see all the available exits for the selected entrance, as well as the type of portal you are currently viewing (direct, multiple, or random). You can tap on each exit to snap the camera to it, and, if you are viewing a multiple portal, the exit you have selected will be the one you teleport to.
Teleporting Through the portal
For the most part, teleporting works similarly for each type of portal, with some small but important differences. Once you have opened the pop-up menu, here is how teleporting through each portal type will work:
Direct: You can select the exit of a direct portal from the pop-up menu to see where you will end up. There will only be one destination available. Once you are ready to use the portal, you can tap the big green TELEPORT button.
Multiple: You can tap on each exit in the pop-up menu to see where you can end up. Tapping on an exit designates it as your teleportation destination. Tap on the TELEPORT button to move to the selected exit.
Random: You can view the exits of a random portal in your pop-up menu, but you will not be able to choose your destination. Each exit has a specific chance to be your destination. Some destinations with a low chance will be marked as rare. Tap on the CHANCE IT! button to test your luck!
Once you tap the TELEPORT or CHANCE IT! button, you will be moved from the entrance to the exit. Once you are at the exit, you will be stopped from moving any farther even if there is only one path ahead, and you can continue on your way from there.
