If you are intending to submit a ticket to Kabam Support regarding the recent 3rd-party software ban wave, which was discussed by our game team in the forum post RECENT BANWAVE UPDATE, please review the following information first. Note that Kabam Support will not be able to take any actions on your account regarding this issue.
Why was my account suspended or closed on June 6, 2025?
After extensive testing, the game team deployed a new system to identify accounts that logged into Marvel Contest of Champions using non-official versions of the game on Android devices (i.e., 3rd-party software), which is a violation of our Terms of Service [8. CODE OF CONDUCT AND STANDARDS]. If your account was suspended at this time, it means that at some point before that, your account was flagged for this behavior.
Were all accounts that were suspended using 3rd-party software?
After a number of people contacted Kabam through various channels to dispute their bans, it was determined by our engineers that some of the suspended accounts could not definitively be found to have violated the Terms of Service, as the test that determined they connected to our servers with 3rd-party software had failed to run and had not returned a failed test result. This misinterpretation of the test data has been corrected going forward.
I never cheated in any game modes. Why was I suspended?
While the overall intent of the suspensions is to remove cheaters from the game, the approach applied in this process does not target cheating behavior. It simply removes anyone using non-official 3rd-party versions of Marvel Contest of Champions. These can include:
- Modded APKs downloaded from unofficial websites, which may alter gameplay features.
- Repackaged or tampered game files that differ from the official Google Play version.
- Cloned or emulator-enhanced versions that bypass game protections or inject automation tools.
Even if no direct cheating was intended or possible, using these modified versions violates our Terms of Service and compromises game security, which can result in suspension.
I have never used 3rd-party software. Why wasn’t my account suspension lifted? Why didn’t I receive the compensation?
The investigation into the false positive test results is still ongoing and is likely going to take some time to complete. While it is possible there are still accounts impacted by this banwave that should not have been, there were also many accounts suspended or permanently closed by this process that were in fact using illegitimate software to cheat in The Contest. We are not providing compensation to all accounts that were suspended, only those that our engineering investigation determines were false positives.
Why isn’t Kabam Support fixing this issue for me? I just keep getting bulk messages.
The work necessary to determine the false positive status of a suspension is an engineering/developer process, and cannot be completed on an individual account level by Kabam Support. We are providing pre-scripted responses to players submitting requests for review of these suspensions in bulk, simply because we are not able to provide meaningful assistance. While we always strive to be here to help our players, there is legitimately nothing we can do to overturn a suspension from this banwave, and all compensation will be provided directly in-game by the game team for anyone determined to qualify.
