First Appearance Champion Portraits are a new collectible, cosmetic feature in The Contest. These new portraits replace the default Champion portrait in your Champions page and are visible to other Summoners in Alliance Wars, Arenas, and Battlegrounds.

While the primary source of First Appearance Champions will be through Featured Hero Grace Crystals, we plan to use this system for engagement-based achievements in the future.

First Appearance Champions in Featured Hero Grace Crystals 

First Appearance Champions can be acquired through Featured Hero Grace Crystals, but are not tied to the Grandmaster's Grace system. While Grace Crystals will guarantee the Featured Champion within a certain number of Crystals opened, the First Appearance Champion portrait is not subject to this grace mechanic and must be acquired directly from this Crystal.

The drop rate of the First Appearance Champion Portrait can be viewed in the Crystal Info section of the Grace Crystal.
