A game’s frame rate reflects how often an image you see on the screen is refreshed to produce the simulation of movement or motion. The frame rate is most often measured in frames per second (FPS).
For The Contest, we have capped the simulation and presentation at 30 FPS in order to accommodate a larger variety of players’ devices while also requiring fewer resources from all compatible operating systems. While some newer devices may be able to perform at higher FPS, this has more to do with the added features of those devices than it has to do with the code of the game.
